Remains of an Old love

Love fled us for our

small and precious lives

walked away

and not have turned back

which seems to be the

only the right thing to do

You asked me to do the same

‘Go and don’t think of turning back.’

To forget.

But have I

My grief is bore in silence.

embracing the pain that

comes with loving you this long —

But is there other way

To remember your scent at night —

aromas

grazing my breath

from your neck to my mouth

To become what had been

Part of me; transient

But I would still like to remember you

just as in our quiet afternoons,

A love wrapped between us two;

the remains of a past

This is the only way I know

I can still love you.
